The provocative approach in addictions

Resolving addictions, compulsions and unhelpful habits

Addiction is to make our happiness belong to something outside.
Alexandre Jollien

Provocative Therapy seeks to elicit five types of behaviour
1  Assertive behaviour.
2  Self affirmatory behaviour.
3  Realistic and appropriate self-defensive behaviours.
4  Psycho social reality testing behaviour.
5  Behaviour that denotes communicating positive messages including warmth, affection, friendship, sexual attraction and love.
Franck Farelly

Nick developed the Provocative Change Works model after training closely with Frank Farrelly the creator of Provocative Therapy. Farrelly worked extensively with clients who had addictions and Nick’s PCW model is an evolution of classic Provocative Therapy. Nick teaches this model internationally as well as running two clinics in the UK.

As well as working with individual clients Nick has also presented to drug counselling groups and discussed the PCW model with Professor Richard Gray who specializes in this area of client therapy.

What addiction professionals are saying about PCW and Nick Kemp

“As head of a busy community drug service, the most significant element I witnessed in his training for my team that has proved to be important in our work with addicted clients has been without a doubt the powerful insight he provided that profound change is not only possible and desirable – but that it is not a time bound process. We are used to assuming that our work will be slow and painstaking – Nick reminded us of the human potential for swift and dramatic change.”
Sian James Head of Community Drug Treatment Services

"I have known Nick Kemp for several years. I was first introduced to his work through the good offices of Steve Andreas from whom he received the highest recommendation. I finally met Nick in 2006 at the IASH Conference in San Francisco, California. I was immediately impressed by his brilliance, enthusiasm and high ethical standards. Nick has done the NLP community the great service of interviewing and documenting some of the best minds in the field. His interviews are insightful, probing and excellent sources of information. I have taken several trainings from Nick, read his materials and listened to several of his DVDs. Every one of his presentations and products meets the highest level of intellectual and practical value. His presentations are well organized, provide clear instructions and provide plenty of room for discussion. In every interaction with him, I have come away richer for it. I am happy to recommend him as a trainer, teacher, therapist and a friend."
Professor Richard Gray

This training focuses on teaching practitioners, therapists on how to work with clients who have addictions, compulsions and unhelpful habits using the PCW model.
